UPDATE: Structural Engineers At Ogemaw Co. Outlet Mall For Roof Collapse

Structural engineers are in Ogemaw County this morning to figure out how to handle a mall roof collapse.

The roof and facade of part of the Tanger Outlets in West Branch collapsed Thursday afternoon.
The first collapse happened at the Polo Ralph Lauren Store on the east end of the mall.
Crews were initially called to a ceiling collapse but the front of the Polo Store had shifted, becoming disconnected from that taller part of the building.
Later, the roof caved in at the HANES Brands outlet next door.
There were people in the store when it happened. There are no reports of any significant injuries.
The Ogemaw County Sheriff says deputies will be patrolling the area today to make sure people stay away. There is a chance more of the building could collapse.
The entire mall is closed, and Thursday night, a nearby Applebee's Restaurant was also evacuated as a precaution.

In the images you can see where the roof became detached from the taller part of the building and the awning falling backwards.

9&10's Meredith Barack was there Thursday night to get the earliest details. Katie Boomgaard will have continuing coverage on the collapse, and what's next, Friday on 9&10 News at 5:00 and 6:00.
