TVC Announces Delta Improvements Will Positively Impact Economy, Travelers

Delta released their 2014 summer flight schedule today – and it provides more options for Traverse City travelers.

There's not much change in the destinations – this summer you will be able to fly from Cherry Capital to Detroit, Minneapolis, New York City and Atlanta.

The big news is that the airline will be using bigger aircraft.

Delta will be using Boeing's 717 – an aircraft that will carry 110 passengers instead of the typical regional jet size.

Cherry Capital Airport Director Kevin Klein says more seats means better fares.

Plus, these improvements will give travelers more options, especially with flight delays or cancellations.

They will take effect in May and could last beyond the summer months.

9&10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson show us what bigger planes, and more of them mean for the area's economy and the airport's continued growth.
