Traverse City Commission Will Wait To Purchase New Garbage Truck

Picking up garbage and leaves is important to keep city streets clean.

In Traverse City, they may need a new truck to do that.

But the question among the city commission is, do they purchase a new truck, or consider other options?

A new truck would cost the city about $200,000.

Because of the cost, some would like to look into other options.

At tonight's city commission meeting, commissioners agreed they would like more information on contracting a private company to do the garbage pickup before they make a decision.

It's not clear when the city might re-visit the garbage truck issue, but commissioners say it will be soon.
