FDA Announces Pro-Pet Food Recall For Possible Salmonella Contamination

The FDA released a pet food recall Wednesday.

Pro-Pet LLC out of St. Mary's, Ohio has issued a voluntary recall of select dry dog and cat foods for possible Salmonella contamination. 

The impacted food was made over a two-day period on a single production line. 

The FDA says there have been no reports of illness related to these products. 

Salmonella can harm the pets eating the food as well as humans handling the product. Humans should watch for symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Contact your healthcare provider if you have these symptoms. 

Pets may be lethargic and have diarrhea, fever and vomiting if infected with Salmonella. Some pets will only have a decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. 

Pets infected with Salmonella can infect other animals and humans.
