Main Street Program Plans to Revitalize Charlevoix

Downtown Charlevoix is about to get a makeover from the state. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority selects towns each year that could use the help.

Charlevoix applied and was one of 8 chosen towns. The town says it needs some help filling in empty storefronts and bringing in a younger demographic. The Downtown Development Authority says they would like to see businesses stay open and thrive all year long.

The Main Street Program helps towns with training and grants. They work on things like economic growth and restoring the history and buildings in the town.

Boyne City took part in the program years ago, and now it's filled with businesses and tourists. Business owners in Charlevoix are excited to see what the future holds, and how downtown Charlevoix will be improved.
