2014 MTA Conference at Grand Traverse Resort Draws Thousands

Harvest the Knowledge – it's the theme of this year's Michigan Township Association conference, and the goal of the near 1,500 local government officials attending.

Today final preparations were underway at the Grand Traverse Resort.

This 61st annual conference is the first one to be held north of Grand Rapids, and the first time it's held in the Traverse City area – something regional officials are celebrating.

The officials who attend help the MTA to set their legislative agenda.

On the docket this year – how to deal with Michigan's new property tax issues, and addressing the state's invasive species problem.

But the one Northern townships were most concerned with – road funding.

9&10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson were on hand and spoke to state and local officials about what they're hoping to take away from the week's event.
