UPDATE: 2 Business Executives Named In Boyne City Plane Crash
DETROIT (AP) — Neighbors in Boyne City awoke to a loud crashing sound this morning.
Police confirm it was a single engine plane that went down near Addis Road in Charlevoix County.
Police believe the plane left from Boyne City Airport and was headed for Birmingham, a suburb of Detroit.
Chair Covers & Linens spokeswoman says president Todd Lloyd was killed in the plane crash. Lloyd was flying the plane and was a licensed pilot. He is described as a leader, friend, and hero.
Weber Shandwick spokeswoman says vice president Chris Neumann was also in the plane.
Extreme weather conditions made getting the victims from the site an obstacle. Until a road was paved by the road commission, the crash site could only be reached by foot or snowmobile.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
