New Legislation Aims To Protect Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
A hearing has been set for January to move forward with legislation aimed at protecting the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
The legislation would designate about 32,500 acres of the dunes as wilderness areas.
The bill promises the area will be preserved and county roads, historical structures and access to recreation will be protected.
The right to hunt and fish will also be protected in the bill.
In 2011, the Sleeping Bear Dunes was named the most beautiful place in America by ABC's Good Morning America.
