White House Wants To Extend Jobless Benefits

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House wants jobless benefits to long-term unemployed Americans extended — saying more than a million people will lose the help if they are not renewed by the end of the month.

That move could slow down economic growth.
Since 2008, nearly 24 million workers have received the unemployment insurance benefits.
More than 11 million Americans remain unemployed — and of them, more than 4 million have been unemployed for more than 26 weeks.
