Exotic Invasive Species DNA Found In Lake Michigan

TRAVERSE CITY (AP) — More concern about another invasive fish spreading through the Great Lakes.

DNA from the Eurasian ruffe has been found in southern Lake Michigan for the first time. However, no live ruffe have been found.

The exotic species is related to the yellow perch.

The fish is already in lakes Superior and Huron.

Scientists worry the species will spread from the Great Lakes into Chicago waterways, then into the Mississippi River Watershed and compete with native species there.
