Beal City football back to the finals, Shelby short again
Two Northern Michigan teams entered this semifinal weekend of High School Football, but only one moves on.
For the second straight season Beal City is headed to the Division 8 State Final. The Aggies punched their ticket with a 34-18 victory against Crystal Falls Forest Park at the Superior Dome in Marquette. The Aggies lost in last year's State Final to Harbor Beach, but get to avenge that loss (with many of the same players) against Muskegon Catholic Central. The Division 8 State Final starts at 10am Friday at Ford Field in Detroit.
Unfortunately, history also repeated itself for Shelby. The Tigers lost to Clinton Saturday afternoon 49-3. So the Tigers season ends in the semifinals back to back years. However 11 wins this season sets a new school record for the Tigers who have improved their win total in each of the last five seasons.
