Petoskey Police Asking For Help In String of Car Thefts

Over the past month, there have been three incidents of thefts from vehicles in south-east Petoskey.
These crimes were committed on Grove St., Tall Pines Ct., and Kalamazoo Ave.
In each of the incidents, a car window was broken to gain access to the interior of the car.
Cash and other valuables were stolen from the vehicles.
These crimes are believed to have occurred in the late evening or very early morning hours.
Police urge residents to make sure all their car doors are locked when unattended.
Don't keep valuables in the vehicle, especially ones that can be easily seen from outside the vehicle.
If you have a car-alarm, make sure to activate it before leaving the car parked overnight.
Community members are encouraged to be on the lookout for suspicious subjects in the area, car alarms sounding, or the sound of glass breaking.  Call 911 immediately if you observe any suspicious behavior or circumstances.
Please call the Petoskey Department of Public Safety if you have any information on these incidents at 231-347-2500.
