Largest Military Air Exercise in the Country Happening in Northern Michigan

The largest military air exercise in the country is happening now in Northern Michigan.

29 units from around the world are coming together to strengthen and showcase their skills in the air and on the ground.

Northern Strike is a live-fire exercise at one of Camp Grayling's gunnery ranges in Otsego County.

The Michigan National Guard is taking part in Northern Strike training exercise which is a live fire exercise over a 2 week period. Col. Bryan Teff, Commander of Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center says, “We bring together all components of the Department of Defense, the Air Force, the Navy, the Marines and the Army.”

Major General Greg Vadnais, Department of Military and Veteran Affairs says, “We're able to drop just about the full suite of joint ammunitions, rockets, everything you drop out of an airplane.”

Governor Rick Snyder even made the trip to see this unique exercise, along with a whole array of curious spectators.
