Beach Advisory In Effect for Most of Lake Michigan Shoreline

A beach advisory is in effect for dozens of beaches along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory on Tuesday and it runs through Wednesday afternoon.

According to the NWS, the advisory means dangerous swimming conditions are expected, lots of waves, and rip currents could become an issue for swimmers.

Rip currents can draw you out hundreds of yards from shore. If you are caught in one its important to swim diagonal with the shoreline and to not fight the current.

The U.S. Coast Guard says it's very important for people to take beach advisories seriously and educate themselves about the danger.
