Gaylord Homeless Shelter Desperate for Monetary Donations

One northern Michigan homeless shelter is asking for the public's help, so they won't have to close their doors.

The Friendship Housing Center in Gaylord has not only provided 40 beds to the homeless since 1991, but has also helped many to turn their lives around by providing assistance with jobs and housing.

The shelter says if they don't receive the money they so desperately need, they may have to close as soon as next week.

Donations can be sent to:

Friendship Shelter, Inc.

P.O. Box 2048

Gaylord, MI 49734

or you can visit their web site and make a donation via PayPal.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Jeff Blakeman spoke to the shelter about the impact their needs has had on them, and the 33 homeless people who call their shelter home.
