Emmet County Labor Market Area Rebounds to Pre-Recession Employment Level

More people are working again in Emmet County; it's one area back to its pre-recession employment level.

According to data compiled by the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, the Emmet County Labor Market Area (LMA) made it back to the same employment level as 2007, right before the recession.

The numbers compared the third quarter of 2012, to the third quarter of 2007.

Northwest Michigan Works tells 9&10 News more employers are starting to hire again, and in some cases are struggling to find people to fill positions.

Construction is one industry rebounding.

In recent years, Van Kalker Construction has brought on more employees, and this year has work scheduled out two to three months in advance.
