Traverse City Commission Votes to Ban Alcohol in Several City Parks

The Traverse City Commission held a meeting tonight and voted to ban alcohol in several city parks.

Problems with drunk and homeless people prompted the action.

Many came to the meeting tonight to voice their opinion, which was overwhelmingly in favor of the ban.

Some said they are uncomfortable going to public beaches, because of the harassment they get from drunk people.

Traverse City Mayor, Michael Estes approves of the ban, but thinks it's just a temporary fix to a bigger problem.

The alcohol ban includes Hannah, Lay, and American Legion Parks.
