Beal City and St. Francis fall in Volleyball State Finals

BATTLE CREEK – Beal City and Traverse City St. Francis each made it to the MHSAA Volleyball State Final, but lost Saturday.

The Aggies were swept by Battle Creek St. Philip.  St. Philip won it's 7th straight Volleyball State Title which is one shy of the MHSAA record.  Their 17 total volleyball titles is an MHSAA record.  The Tigers also swept every single opponent they faced this season (72).  Beal City finished the season an impressive 45-11-1 record.

Traverse City St. Francis was in the volleyball finals for the first time in school history.  While they took the second game, the Gladiators ultimately lost 3-1 to Monroe St. Mary.  It was St. Mary's second state title in the last three years, and fourth in school history.  Their only loss in that three year span was to Morley Stanwood in last year's state final.  St. Francis finished with a 42-8-3 record.
