Drunk Driver Crashes into Taxi in Downtown Traverse City, Seriously Injuring All Involved

Doug Dornbos owns Cherry Capital Cab, when he heard about Saturday's car accident he rushed to the emergency room to be with his cab driver. Police say a drunk driver collided with a taxi at the intersection of Front and Union Streets. The speed limit is 25 miles per hour, but witnesses say the driver was traveling about 50 miles per hour faster than that. Police say the driver told them he had been drinking in his car. Injuries ranged from concussions to broken bones; the cab driver has been released from the hospital.

Cherry Capital Cab is hoping for a speedy recovery for the two women, and safety still tops their list.

Police say the driver who crashed into the taxi has no prior drunk driving convictions, he has not yet been in court.
