Governor Snyder and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing Plan to Rejuvenate Belle Isle

Governor Snyder and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing announced a plan to rejuvenate Belle Isle as a state park under a 30 year lease agreement.

The governor says making Belle Isle a state park will have many benefits like provide financial relief to Detroit and will guarantee a beautiful place for people to enjoy.

The DNR will oversee all the improvements and do regular maintenance.

“This city-state collaboration will return Belle Isle to its original beauty through major improvements and regular maintenance overseen by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources,” said Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. “It presents a win-win situation for the City and the entire State, by preserving a historic destination in the City of Detroit.”
