UPDATE: Rescued Distressed Swimmer Dies

Thursday UPDATE: The Oceana County Sheriff's Office received word from Spectrum Hospital that Vikrant Kole passed away from the injuries he suffered during the near drowning accident.

The incident happened Sunday around 6:45 pm in Silver Lake near Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Golden Township.

Rescue divers recovered Vikrant Kole around 7:20 pm. Officials reported that he had been under water since 6:45.

EMS were able to find a pulse and transported him to Spectrum Hospital.
