United Way Days of Caring

The United Way of northwest Michigan's Day of Caring is coming up next week, but some work has already begun.

The Day of Caring is a day meant to encourage more people to volunteer in their community.

Every year in the week leading up to the Day of Caring, the United Way hosts a food drive.

They say it's a great way for anyone to help out, even if they don't have time to dedicate a whole day.

All you need to do is bring non-perishable food items to your local drop-off spot.

Collected food goes to local food pantries.

The United Way says the need for donated food has only continued to increase.

The food drive started today and goes through next week.

This year's Day of Caring is next Thursday.
