Another Michigan Resident Dies From West Nile Virus

Another death in Michigan is being blamed on West Nile Virus.

This is the 5th case so far this year.

Michigan Health officials say an 87-year-old woman from Kent County died from West Nile, the diagnosis was confirmed this morning.

Yesterday the state declared an epidemic of West Nile Virus activity in our state.

An elderly woman from Wayne County died from the illness earlier this week.

So far there have been 80 cases reported this year, more than double from all of 2011.

Experts think a mild winter, early spring and hot summer aided mosquito breeding.
