Grand Traverse Lighthouse Honored as Michigan’s First Autism Friendly Designation
It's Autism Awareness Year, and one northern Michigan landmark is being recognized for playing a role in the efforts. Lieutenant Governor, Brian Calley, visited Northport today to honor the Grand Traverse Lighthouse as Michigan's first autism friendly Designation.
The lighthouse welcomes those with autism and their families, and encourages them to be comfortable while visiting. Back in April, Lieutenant Governor Calley signed the law for insurance companies to offer coverage for autism treatment in Michigan. He's passionate about raising awareness because he has a daughter with autism.
