Belter Pitches Beach Bums to series sweep

TRAVERSE CITY – Brooks Belter went six solid innings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out five en route to his sixth win of the year as the Traverse City Beach Bums beat the Normal Cornbelters, 3-1 on Thursday evening.  Belter is now 6-0 on the year, while the Beach Bums improved to 17 games over .500 (31-14) for just the second time in franchise history.

The Beach Bums would take the lead in the first, as Jeff Flagg delivered an RBI single to left.  Kyle Colligan added an RBI sacrifice fly in the third to make it 2-0.  Normal would get a run back in the sixth.  Jose Vargas added his league-leading 16th Home Run in the Eighth for the game's final margin.

The Beach Bums hit the road for a three-game series at London starting on Friday before hitting the Frontier League's All-Star Break next week.
