Three Northern Michigan golf teams win Regionals
Traverse City West Golf won their Division 1 Regional at Boulder Creek in Lake Orion. Their combined team score of 293 was 15 strokes better than second place.
Gates Muller placed first individually with a 2-under par 70.
The Titans advance to the Division 1 State Finals June 15-16 at the Medows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley University in Allendale.
In Division 2 Big Rapids took the Regional at the Pohl Cat in Mt. Pleasant by a single stroke. Their combined score of 329 just barely edged out Mt. Pleasant and was only three strokes better than Petoskey. All three teams are headed to the State Final at the Katke Golf Course on the campus of Ferris State University in Big Rapids June 15-16.
Blaze Hogan (Big Rapids) placed first individually with a 71. He will be joined at the State Finals by individual qualifier Alex Dombrowski (Gaylord).
In Division 3 Ludington, Roscommon and Ithaca are headed to the State Finals on the Forest Akers East Course on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing June 15-16.
Joining them will be individual qualifiers Alex Lindeman (Manistee) who shot an 82 and Josh Lueck (Kingsley) who shot an 83.
In Division 4, Lake Leelanau St. Mary won the Regional at Rivers Edge Golf Club in Alpena. Their combined score of 315 was 12 strokes better than Suttons Bay (326) and Frankfort (345). So all three teams along with Manistee Catholic Central are headed to the State Finals at the Forest Akers West Course on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing June 15-16.
St. Mary's Paul Bandenhagen won first place individually.
Joining them will be individual qualifiers Bennet Langton (Harbor Springs), Mike O'Brien (Glen Lake), Kirk Muller (Harbor Light), Sam Wagner (Pentwater).
