Rain or Shine…Great Wakes Festival Will Go On

A little rain isn't stopping a new Traverse City Water Festival from kicking up waves this afternoon.

Tonight is the first night of Poterhouse Productions' Great Wakes Festival.

It's centered around water conservation and extreme water sports.

Professional wakeboarders will compete using two pools set up in the Open Space.

They also have a heated tent, music and food for those looking to stay warm.

Tomorrow is the biggest day of the festival.

Starting at 10 am, they'll have a stand-up paddle board race down the Boardman River, a volleyball tournament and the wakeboarding competition.
