DUCK LAKE FIRE: Governor Snyder, Senator Stabenow Tour Fire Damage

Crews have the Duck Lake fire 57-percent contained tonight.

The fire in Luce County is estimated at more than 21-thousand acres.

The fire started Wednesday, May 23 after a lightening strike near Duck Lake, which is in the area of Pike Lake.

Crews fighting had a cooperative day today, with no new flair-ups.

The fire's destroyed 132 structures, including 46 homes or cabins since it started burning.

Governor Snyder declared a State of Disaster for Luce County and we're told the state asked FEMA for help.

FEMA denied the original request, but we're told the state is appealing.

Governor Rick Snyder got an up-close look at the damage today, along with Senator Debbie Stabenow.
