DUCK LAKE FIRE: Fire Currently Estimated At 21,694 Acres

The most recent GPS data estimates the size of the Duck Lake Fire in Luce County at 21,694 acres.

The DNR says 47% of that fire is contained.

The fire started burning after a lightening strike nearly a week ago near Duck Lake, which isn't far from Pike Lake.

Damage assessment continues, but so far we know of 97 structures destroyed by the fire, including 34 homes or cabins.

The DNR says the north end of the fire is pretty well contained, but the southern end still poses a significant risk.

There is a public information meeting scheduled from 5:00-7:00 p.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, at the McMillan Township Hall, in Newberry.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have the latest as fire crews continue to battle the fire.
