Lake City Becomes Part of “Michigan Main Street”

A Northern Michigan city may soon be able to improve it's downtown.

This week, Lake City in Missaukee County officially became part of the Michigan Main Street Program.

It will allow Lake City to apply for and receive grants to improve the downtown area.

Members of both the Downtown Development Authority and the Chamber of Commerce will hold public meetings for input on the changes residents want this summer.

The Michigan Main Street Program is part of Governor Rick Snyder's efforts to create vibrant communities across the state.

Another new addition from Northern Michigan is the city of Otsego.
