Governor Recognizes Historic Preservation of Boyne City Water Works Building
Governor Snyder recognized Boyne City with the 2012 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation for the Boyne City Water Works Building.
The award is for the city's efforts in preserving history by restoring the old water works building, instead of tearing it down.
The building re-opened last July after the city used a state and federal grant to help fix it up.
The building, built in 1910, hadn't been in use since the late 1980s.
Today, it not only looks good, but is part of the city's water works system, again.
9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more details on the building, and the award.
