Tribe Votes to Move Forward with Lansing Casino

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians said its members have approved a proposal to seek federal permission to open a $245 million casino in downtown Lansing.

Back in March, the Lansing City Council voted to move forward with the proposed casino by selling property to the Sault tribe.

Backers said it would create more jobs and help improve the city.

The plans are opposed by Governor Snyder and other tribes with competing casinos.
