Group Makes Progress in Restoring Benzie County Town

It has taken a couple years of planning but one local group says it is starting to make progress in restoring a northern Michigan town.

The Honor Area Restoration Project, or H.A.R.P., now has a headquarters thanks to a generous donation from a local family. The building could potentially be used as a recreation center for area youth.

The group is also putting together a recreation plan so they can receive grant money from the state.

Two businesses will soon open in the area. Money's Platte River Inn will reopen downtown and an outfitter, Tag Limit Outdoors, will open nearby.

H.A.R.P. is holding its first annual auction and benefit dinner starting at 5pm Saturday night. There are only a few seats left. Call (231) 930-4627 for ticket information.
