White House to Honor ‘Trees for Troops’

The White House will soon honor some local Christmas tree farmers for their support of the troops.

Trees for Troops has donated more than 100,000 fresh Christmas trees across the country since 2005. Dutchman Tree Farms, based in Missaukee County, donated more than 300 this year.

The White House will honor the program on Wednesday as finalist in the Joining Forces Community Challenge. Trees for Troops was selected as a top twenty finalist from more than 300 organizations.

Last year, the group donated more than 19,000 Christmas trees to 65 military bases in the U.S. and overseas.
