Wrongful Death Settlement Reached for Family of Carly Lewis

The family of Carly Lewis, the 16-year-old Traverse City girl fatally stabbed in June, reached a multi-million dollar wrongful death settlement with the young man who killed her.

A 3.75 million dollar wrongful death settlement resolves a civil lawsuit filed by the Lewis family against Robert Schwander.

The primary payments will come from tribal trust fund money for Schwander, who is a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

It's unclear how much of the money the family will get.
