9th Annual Festival of Trains Chugs its Way into Traverse City

The Festival of Trains is chugging into Traverse City, it kicked off today at the History Center.

The center's Director says the bay is such a large body of water, that fur trappers and traders could only travel to the points: Mission Peninsula, Northport, and Charlevoix. Trains were first brought to Traverse City to make that transportation easier. The festival is in its 9th year, and it's hosted by the Northern Michigan Railroad Club.

The Festival of Trains runs through January 2nd. This weekend there will also be a swap meet.
