Community Welcomes Fallen Boyne City Soldier Back Home

Silence filled the air in one Charlevoix County community Friday, as the body of a fallen soldier returned home.

The homecoming of Private First Class Jack Diener II provoked a variety of feelings stretching from sadness to pride.

Diener, a 2009 graduate of Boyne City High School, was killed November 21 serving in Afghanistan.

Friday, people lined the street in Boyne City to show support.

They held flags and signs showing American pride and also appreciation for Diener's sacrifice.

There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for 11:00 a.m., December 10 at Boyne City High School.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have the story.
