DNR Projects Good Bow Hunting Season

Bow hunting season is underway and the DNR says it can only get better.

The first few weeks of the season started off pretty slow this year.

The DNR says the warm weather may be to blame.

It's tough on deer and the hunters.

But with the seasons changing DNR officers say the number of deer has nearly doubled in some areas which is bound to make for a successful season ahead.

Mark Knee, a wildlife technician for the DNR says, “We've had 2 mild winters, deer numbers are definitely on the rise in some areas, we're looking forward to a real good season this year.”

The baiting ban has been re-instated which has helped the deer harvest and should improve your hunting success.
