Looking Good

* Quiet Skies * More Sunshine * Turning Breezy ————————- The pleasant, dry weather continues for Northern Michigan right through the weekend. High pressure is back in firm control and all that means is more sunshine. Clear skies and light winds allow temperatures to drop into the low 50's near the lakes with inland spots in the middle 40's. Bright sunshine is back for you tomorrow. Highs warm into the 70's with some low 80's possible. Winds pick up across the Northern Lower counties with gusts near 20 mph out of the South/southwest. Friday night football will be on the warm side with temperatures in the 60's. Winds will drop a bit after sunset. Winds really kick up for everyone on Saturday. You'll see winds of 10-20 with gusts to 25mph out of the Southwest. These winds are pulling in more heat so highs range from 72 to 82 degrees. The cooler readings will be near the lakes while inland spots can expect numbers around 80. Sunday's winds are less with speeds of 5-15mph. High pressure is still in control so plan on seeing more sunshine. * Fall colors: All the latest reports have the Eastern U.P. at peak conditions. Much of the Lower Peninsula is near peak to peak. The brightest colors are found near Cadillac, Gaylord and Antrim County. Those near the lakes and south of M-72 are still 2 weeks away from peak color. – Tom
