Fewer People Qualifying for Food Stamps

Starting October 1st, fewer people will qualify for food stamps.

Right now, income is only thing taken into consideration when applying for a bridge card.

But next month, people with assets of more than$5,000 won't qualify.

A primary home or 401-k account will not disqualify people from getting food assistance.

But those with significant savings accounts or second homes will no longer be eligible, and that means more people will be in need.

Pantries are already helping record numbers of people this year.
