Freeze Warning Means Plants, Gardens Need Special Care

Temperatures are dropping and it's only going to get colder tonight, and that means your greens could be goners. Some are tough enough to handle the chill, but others need some extra help. Mums and pansies are fine in the cold weather, they don't need to be taken indoors. But petunias, impatiens and tropical plants should be taken inside so the don't die. Vegetables should be picked if it gets down to the low 20s; you can wrap them in newspaper or a brown paper bag to help them ripen. But if temperatures stay in the 30s, covering them with a frost blanket or sheet will do the trick. Jennifer Profitt and Photojournalist Justin DePrekel spoke with some gardening gurus about keeping your plants safe.
