Meetings Scheduled For Asian Carp
State lawmakers plan to gather more information about Asian carp this week. The Natural Resources Committee has scheduled a hearing on Wednesday in the state capitol to hear updates about the invasive fish. Co-chairs on the committee invited experts and other aquatic scientists from around Michigan to speak at the meeting. Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have all filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and The Chicago Water Reclamation District. The lawsuit seeks to permanently sever a man-made link between the Mississippi River and Great Lakes drainage basins in hopes of stopping the spread of Asian carp. We will continue to bring you the latest updates as they become available.
