Some Wet Weather Tonight – Even Hotter Tomorrow

* Warm Tonight – Few Showers in L.P. * A Hot One Tomorrow * Cooler Down this Weekend —————————————– A burst of warmth has arrived in Northern Michigan. Overnight lows will be in the middle 60's to low 70's but skies will not stay clear all night. In fact, a few showers have develop over Lake Michigan and they are slowly moving east. That means those of you in the Lower Peninsula, south of M-72, could see some brief showers overnight. Temperatures soar tomorrow with more mid and upper 80's and low 90's. The Upper Peninsula will not get as hot with highs in the low 80's. While skies stay dry in the morning the afternoon is a different story. An approaching cold front brings the clouds and threat of thunderstorms mainly after 2pm. The storms could be quite strong or even severe with heavy rain and damaging winds. Winds pick up to 10-20mph out of the southwest. Storms move out Friday night but showers remain in the forecast for parts of the Lower Peninsula Saturday. It doesn't look to be a wash-out but those areas south of M-55 will more likely see additional showers and overall more gray weather. Temperatures cool down with highs in the 70's. A surge of showers is possible Saturday night for areas south of M-72. We'll watch this very closely. The good news is that Sunday shows periods of sunshine with just the chance of rain showers. The mercury cools down even more with highs of 66 to 73 degrees. Labor Day looks very interesting. I expect some lake effect clouds and rain showers for the morning but skies should improve for the afternoon. Right now, I'm forecasting partly sunny skies with highs remaining in the 60's. – Tom
