Man Receives Benefits After Crashing Car into Soc. Security Building

The man who crashed his van into a Traverse City Social Security office last month has been approved for disability benefits. Douglas McCallum crashed his car because he says he felt mistreated by the government. McCallum stands to receive about $1,000 per month. He faces criminal charges for backing his van into the entrance of the social security office on July 3. McCallum says he was in a “fit of rage” after years of the Government making it difficult to receive his disability claims. His attorney has filed and insanity defense.
