Sault Ste. Marie Health Center Awarded $500,000

The Chippewa County Health Department was awarded $500,000 in grant funding for the Sault Health Adolescent Care Center in Sault Area High School. The money will help to expand and renovate the center, which helps provide primary health care for school-aged children. Many of the children who visit the center do now have another source of care. The Health Department says this is the first ever federally based funding that will specifically support a school-based health center. Last year, the center reported serving 989 students.
