Civilians Killed When Taliban Fighters Attack Hotel

The death toll from an attack on a Western-style hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan on Tuesday is now at 10. Afghan Police say the 10 killed are Afghan people and mostly hotel workers. The attack started late Tuesday night when suicide bombers stormed into the hotel. Officials believe there were between 6-8 attackers. Some of the attackers blew themselves up after walking into the hotel. While 3 fired shots from the roof of the hotel. NATO helicopters later killed the gunmen on the roof. Afghan security forces entered the hotel and ended the standoff. The attack came the night before a conference scheduled to focus on transferring responsibility for security from foreign to Afghan forces by the end of 2014. Some people who plan on attending the conference were staying in the hotel but were not hurt.
