Electrical Current Strikes, Hospitalizes Four People Working Along Power Lines in Manistee County
A strong electrical current sent four people to the hospital this morning. State police say electrical workers were setting up a pole when it came too close to power lines above. That's when 69,000 volts of electricity shot down the pole and shocked the employees. Police tell Northern Michigan's News Leader that two of the victims are in critical condition tonight. It happened at a site near Copemish in Manistee County. One employee works for Wolverine Power Cooperative, while the other three are subcontractors. Police and EMS arrived on the scene to try and help. A state trooper says this was a first kind call for her. 9&10's Evan Dean and Photojournalist Eli Gardiner were on the scene and have the story.
