Sunshine and Warmer Weather This Weekend

*High Pressure Builds, Giving us Mostly Clear Skies *Warmer Temperatures Ahead *Rain Returns Next Week ——————– After a long work week of dark skies, rain, and storms, the sunshine has finally arrived. Starting last night, skies cleared out pretty quickly, and areas in far western Michigan even got a shot of sun before the day ended. A nice start today, with mostly sunny skies for the majority of Northern Michigan, and partly sunny skies in the Northeast. High temperatures will remain below average, but are improving. We'll see 69-78 degrees today, with northwest winds 8-16mph. Tonight will be mostly clear for all, allowing some temperatures to drop below 50 degrees. Overall, lows will range from the upper 40's to the middle 50's. Winds will be light and variable. Sunday continues the pattern of sunshine as high pressure settles right on top of Northern Michigan. It will finally be our first day in a while that temperatures are on track for an average summer. Highs 75-83 degrees. Monday won't be nearly as sunny as the weekend, and clouds will build back in rather quickly. It's looking like afternoon showers are likely at this point, with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Tuesday will be a largely dry day, but a few light morning showers can't be ruled out. By the early afternoon though, skies clear out quickly and the sun will continue through Thursday. -Meteorologist Katie Dupree
