Gov. Snyder Plans to Sign State Budget Today
Governor Snyder plans to sign the state budget this afternoon, well ahead of the beginning of the fiscal year on October 1. The Republican-led legislature handed the governor the budget on May 31. The governor says this budget, which includes lots of cuts to school funding, accurately reflects the current reality of Michigan's financial crisis. Critics argue the cuts to public schools, universities and local governments are wrong. There is also still some uncertainty for districts and local governments with budget years starting July 1.
