FDA to Require Packages of Cigarettes to Include Graphic Images
There is a constant battle between the FDA and the smoker. The FDA hopes these new graphic images on the outside of cigarette packages will stop people from lighting up. Smokers say that the FDA is just trying to scare them with the new labels, and they don't think it's going to do the trick. The new label won't just be on the pack of cigarettes, but in 20% of a cigarette makers' television ads. Doctors tell us that they will use any help they can get in the fight against tobacco. The real focus of the ad campaign ISN'T to get smokers to quit, as much as it is to make sure young people never start.
